Marilyn Petrequin and Eric Delehoy form an ideal team. While each family
works with one of them, Marilyn and Eric meet regularly to share
ideas. Since their backgrounds and areas of expertise are quite
different, this can be very valuable to the family.
Marilyn and Eric visit colleges and universities nationally on a regular basis. They
also routinely attend both regional and national conferences. In this
way, they are very familiar with new trends and developments at
the colleges and universities nationwide. While these similarities are
important, of equal importance are their differences.
MARILYN PETREQUIN
Marilyn’s background is in the public schools, where she was at one
time a teacher and later college counselor. Her experience includes
spending three years as the high school teacher member of the national
Advanced Placement Art History committee, where she also read the
nationally written exams over a seven-year period. She was elected to
and served a three year term on the College Board’s Western Region
Guidance and Admissions Committee, learning from the inside the
workings of that organization. While at Lincoln High School she
received training in the International Baccalaureate program.
Invaluable to her clients is her knowledge of how a college admissions
committee works. She learned first-hand, when, by their invitation,
she was able to sit in on a week of final decisions at both Amherst
College and Colorado College.
On a personal note, Marilyn is married, the mother of three grown sons,
and the proud grandmother of a grandson and two granddaughters.
ERIC DELEHOY
Eric has worked in college admissions for Colorado State University and the Franklin College in Switzerland. He has also had experience at the high school level, having served as a college counseling intern at St. Mary's Academy in Portland. Though his time at St. Mary's was short, it did give him insight into the workings of a high school. During his
years in college admissions he served as Western Regional Director for Colorado State University, and later the Franklin College. In this capacity he reviewed student records, interviewed students and had the authority to offer admission to student's he saw as clearly
appropriate. His years of experience are useful in accessing a student's admissibility to a specific college. Having read thousands of applications, he is well prepared to give advice resulting in a strong application. His years of interviewing can help a student prepare for the experience through a mock interview. As a published author with a master's degree in creative writing, as well as years of reading student application essays, Eric is an excellent source for essay advice. For students wanting ONLY essay help, Eric offers an essay package and essay workshops. His international experience through Franklin College offers another aspect that can benefit his students.
Originally from Colorado, Eric now lives in Portland.
